TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES
Formerly known as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Workshop, TISS (The Tata Institute of Social Sciences) embarked on its journey in 1936, dedicated to unfolding socially just, par excellence, and constantly evolving education. In 1964, it was recognized as a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India, expanding its branches and exploring "Practical and Professional Education."
The TISS Model
As TISS grew into a comprehensive institution, a new branch, the “School of Vocational Education (SVE),” bloomed in 2011. With a strong vision of providing “Work Integrated Training Programs (WITP)” in every field for aspiring individuals, SVE is flourishing.
What is Bachelor of Vocation?
TISS-SVE offers a flexible course that imparts knowledge and transforms individuals into professional workers through certification of their choice. The course has three individual levels:

Bachelor of Vocation degree
These certifications are recognized and awarded by TISS. The eligibility criteria for B.VOC. include:

What is Short Term & Skill Enhancement Programme?
Training Programs
These programs are designed for graduates and professionals to enhance their existing skills and adapt to ever-changing working styles and technology in industries. These courses, ranging from a few weeks to a year, also enhance earning capabilities.
Benefits of Training Programs
This initiative provides equal opportunities for both dropout students and HSC graduates. Trainees undergo 12 hours of theoretical training per week and practical training on the job. Skill Knowledge Providers (SKP) offer practical training based on standard learning outcomes. Industries employing part-time, temporary, and seasonal workforces can enroll them in TISS-SVE for various internships and skill enhancement opportunities.
